The Prophet Joseph Smith wrote the following to a man who had recently joined the Church: “You remember
the testimony which I bore in the name of the Lord Jesus, concerning the great work which He has brought forth
in the last days. You know my manner of communication, how that in weakness and simplicity, I declared to
you what the Lord had brought forth by the ministering of His holy angels to me for this generation. I pray that
the Lord may enable you to treasure these things in your mind, for I know that His Spirit will bear testimony
to all who seek diligently after knowledge from Him.”
We gain knowledge of eternal truths a little at a time; we can learn all things as fast as we are able to bear
them.
“It is not wisdom that we should have all knowledge at once presented before us; but that we should have a
little at a time; then we can comprehend it.”
“When you climb up a ladder, you must begin at the bottom, and ascend step by step, until you arrive at
the top; and so it is with the principles of the gospel - you must begin with the first, and go on until you learn
all the principles of exaltation. But it will be a great while after you have passed through the veil before you will
have learned them. It is not all to be comprehended in this world; it will be a great work to learn our salvation
and exaltation even beyond the grave.”
